So I lose the map when I use my iPhone... But here is a snippet of
today's walk.

Shark Eatin' Fish
I saw some kid's drawings and I was so jealous, & then my grandson drew a shark eatin' a fish and I gave up art making (for a few hours).
Good News, Bad News
I made it home with most of my walking route recorded on the map on my iphone. But I couldn't remember how to do a screenshot... and when I figured it out I had lost the map.
Tomorrow is another day.
The .lbs from the hefty bbq went away... now it is a matter of one day at a time.
Or one breathe.

Looks Like Someone Sat on his Head
No Texas BBQs today... but just a short walk to the fridge. I ended up 40 calories below my goal... which was much better than yesterday. Yea!

Calories
So today I splurged and got a spiffy distance app for my iphone ($2.99). It even does a map of your walk... with 4 variations. Unfortunately I messed with my 128 calorie walk before I had a chance to download it for my blog. But tomorrow, I promise, I'll give you a visual.
Tonight going to have a big dinner... so I was super good all day. Salad for lunch. 10 almonds for a snack. Etc.
In the meantime, I've been thinking about an article, "Do Libertarians Believe their own Hype?" (http://tinyurl.com/ydm66fl) and disagreeing with the author believing that they do. Let me know what you think.

My Walking Neighbor
asked how I can be both in the moment, and thinking about the moment. Thinking about the moment in the moment does seem to be a contradiction, almost as if thinking is outside of the life game. So "I think therefore I am" might be "I think therefore (for the moment) I am not."

Variation 4 of Single Head
She asked how she could read my pieces without a quote. When I hear questions like that, my impulse is to never "illustrate" another quote because I want my pictures to speak for themselves. Then I think of what Robert Frost said when asked what one of his poems said, "do you want me to tell you in other and worse language?"

Woman Crossing Street
Yesterday at a stop sign I watched a woman walk across the street. I saw the dance between the street and the woman as they separated and then came back together. And yet I was surprised that I couldn't sense any weight to her.
We don't see weight. We don't see anything beyond what is there. Then we start adding what we know and we are suddenly not seeing anymore, but caught in our preconceptions.

Back at It
So I finished the 90 or so drawings for a book and want to take a break before I go back to make them better.

Ego?
I had a strange experience the other day. I was in a small town in Texas... one that I had never been to. There were recognizable things all around (human beings, cars, stores, streets). I never had imagined that this town existed. Nor that it existed without me! It was such a shock that it had been operating without me, or any knowledge of me, and then I wondered what else existed without me. The idea of my world changed as I realized that similar worlds existed outside of me and my consciousness.

...he had stood before the Lord.

Reflections on Talks on Buddha's Lists
During a recent Appamada Intensive our students gave talks on Buddha's lists. Here are my reflections on their talks.
